CCPlay (the “App”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the App collects, uses, and stores.
1. Information we collect
| Type | Details | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Device identifier | An anonymous hash (device_id) derived from ANDROID_ID and app metadata — not your Google account | Free weekly limit, Plus and CC pass status, abuse prevention |
| Usage data | CC (live caption) usage time in seconds; daily and monthly usage | Free 10 min/week; Plus and pass remaining time |
| Subscription and pass data | Google Play subscription and consumable pass status and purchase tokens | Plus (10 h Soniox/month) and CC time passes |
| Integrity token | Google Play Integrity API token | Verify genuine, unmodified app installs |
| App stability (crash) data | Device/OS/app version and crash/ANR stacks for diagnostics (no account name or email) | Bug fixes and app stability |
| On-device settings | Subtitle, language, favorites, and UI preferences | App functionality (stored on device only) |
| In-app inquiry and replies (optional) | Message and category you submit in the app inquiry inbox, app/OS version, locale, install source, optional diagnostics summary, and operator reply text. Linked only by anonymous device_id (no name or email) | To read and reply. Replies are visible only on that device |
| Blog contact (optional) | The message you submit on the blog contact form, plus name and email only if you provide them | To read and reply to inquiries. Not tied to app install or sign-in |
| Advertising identifiers | Google advertising ID and other signals collected by the AdMob SDK (the app does not request ads while Plus is active) | Show ads to free users (the app does not request ads while Plus is active) |
2. Information we do not collect
- The App does not require Google sign-in, name, email, or phone number. Name and email on the blog contact form are optional.
- We aim not to persist browsing history, cookies, or autofill data. (Clear-on-exit is enabled by default.) Cookies from the Coupang banner WebView use the same store and are cleared with the others when that setting is on.
- We do not permanently store raw audio or video files on CCPlay servers.
2-1. Live captions (CC) — cloud STT (Soniox)
- When CC is on, the captured audio stream is sent to Soniox for real-time speech recognition and translation.
- The connection uses a temporary API key issued by our server; the master key is not embedded in the app.
- Recognition/translation results are shown as captions. We aim not to permanently store raw audio on CCPlay servers.
- If the beta “Save captions” option is on, finished caption text and the in-app page address stay on this device only for up to 7 days. No audio file is saved. This history is not uploaded to our servers.
- Pages where you played a video in the in-app browser are kept as “Recently watched” (page title, address, and preview image) on this device only, up to the latest 20. This history is not uploaded to our servers and is deleted with “Clear” or when you clear browsing data.
- Usage time, subscription, and pass balances may be aggregated by our entitlement API (Google Cloud).
3. Storage and transmission
- Entitlement, usage, and subscription data may be stored on Google Cloud Run (Asia region).
- Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/WSS.
- Server data is kept only to the minimum needed for entitlement management.
4. Third-party services
- Google Play: distribution, subscriptions, time passes, integrity checks
- Google Cloud: entitlement API hosting
- Soniox: real-time speech recognition and translation (audio stream while CC is on)
- Sentry: crash/ANR diagnostics (diagnostic data may be processed on servers outside your country)
- Google AdMob: rewarded ads and banners for free users (not requested while Plus is active). Via AdMob Mediation, Meta Audience Network creatives may fill the same slots
- Coupang: when the device’s mobile-network country is Korea, or the SIM country is Korea if the network country is empty, the home screen and the free-time sheet may show a Coupang Partners product banner (not requested while Plus is active). An in-app WebView loads Coupang’s script. The app does not send the advertising ID to Coupang. That WebView may accept Coupang cookies even if the browser blocks third-party cookies. Tapping the banner does not add caption time
- Notion: storing and handling in-app and blog inquiries and drafting in-app replies (only if you submit). Postgres on CCPlay servers is the source of truth for in-app inquiry threads
These services are governed by their respective policies. CCPlay does not sell personally identifiable information to third parties.

- Uninstalling the App removes on-device settings and favorites.
